What Readers Are Saying ...

An excellent follow up to the author's first historical novel…The simplicity with which he interweaves the personal struggles of families with the detailed elements and decision making during WW II is shear genius. The scope and depth of the overwhelming cost of the war portrayed throughout. The moral integrity, personal commitment, and competence of the characters elevates the reading experience.

It makes history come alive even if military history and troop movements make you dizzy. The characters are engaging and well developed, which makes it a very enjoyable and educational experience.

A terrific read! The MI6 intelligence agent known as Delilah and an American lawyer working in London for the OSS head a cleverly interwoven cast of international characters in this novelistic history of World War II in Europe. Donald de Brier's compelling story sweeps the reader from Top Secret meetings in Whitehall to the battlefields of North Africa, over the bombed-out cities of Germany, and onto the beaches of Normandy.

A Compelling Read. An engaging innovative historical fiction providing the reader a unique view of the unfolding of early WW2. The venue is mainly London with a large cast of historical as well as fictional members. Code Name Delilah is a very enjoyable read.

Fast-paced and engaging…It does not feel like a history lesson - rather it feels like being dropped right into the drama of the time. There are spies and covert missions, displaced Jews being hunted by the far-reaching hand of Nazi hatred, moments of unexpected love, grief over deep losses, and ultimately, a celebration of resilience and life. It’s an emotional rollercoaster that keeps the pages turning. I will not be shy to share that I shed some tears on occasion.

A Surprising Take on WW2 History. A well researched and provocative look into the role of female agents in WW2. Donald’s passion for the era is inspiring - I look forward to reading his next novel!

Articulate and compelling and touching. A work of historical fiction that reads like a dramatic and engaging fictional novel, with interesting characters-- but is meticulously researched and historically accurate, fictional characters all woven together with real history, and real people. I learned a lot about the war---without trying to.

The book is very easy to read and very informative about World War II especially good to read for younger generations at this time where the world is in turmoil and fighting going on in the Middle East and Ukraine.

An excellent read! Both enlightening historically and refreshingly human. The author's creative approach to using the Delilah character to capture and portray the thickening of the plot is superb. I look forward to what comes next, assuming the author is following up on his ending statement “The end of the beginning…and to be continued.”
